After a considerable period of time, this hospital was reopened. Initially, only an O.P.D. was running in the hospital but later on it was decided to provide 24 hours medical service along with the opening of a maternity home for which additional paramedics were to be employed. However, due to the decline in patients as well as financial constraints, the hospital had to be closed.

Presently, the Akram Khatoon Hospital is now back in the hands of APWA National Head Quarter. The Sachal Rangers have vacated the main building. For this, APWA is very grateful to Mrs. Nasreen Khalid Anwer, wife of the distinguished former Law Minister Mr. Khalid Anwer, for her untiring efforts in getting the work done.

The premises also accommodates an eye hospital under the name and title of "APWA Shirin Bano Eye Hospital" which runs under the management of the society for the prevention and cure of blindness.

The National Executive Committee took the decision in session to run this premises in collaboration with SIUT as a dialysis center to service the local community. APWA has laid stress that treatment must be free. This collaboration will run for 10 years after which the agreement will be reviewed. This collaboration is very beneficial for the local community and adjacent areas as this will provide the people quality health services at their doorsteps for free.
